Physical, sexual, emotional or psychological abuse of one human being by another is unacceptable. The Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center believes that all abuse diminishes or prohibits the full expression of life and growth which is the right of every woman, child, and man. The purpose of HCWC is to create an environment where violence and abuse are not tolerated in the communities we serve. The agency provides a safe environment where an individual can make educated, non-biased decisions about their future. HCWC is dedicated in providing crisis and prevention services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The center provides services to women, children and men of all ages. These services include a 24-hour crisis line, shelter, counseling/ support groups, legal advocacy, assistance with filing protective orders and other legal documentation, case-management, victim’s advocacy, transportation, and community education/prevention. As an intern at HCWC with the Primary Prevention Education Team, our responsibilities for the center are to provide family violence & dating violence education/prevention presentations and workshops in schools, youth-centered settings, and other targeted audiences within the Hays-Caldwell counties. We also provide sexual assault education/prevention presentations and workshops in schools, youth-centered settings and other targeted audiences within the Hays-Caldwell counties. |
